Role description:
Base71 Youth Zone is an exciting new youth centre which opened in January 2026 and we’re looking for volunteers who want to help young people thrive.
As the first Youth Zone in Yorkshire, Base71 will offer a world-class, purpose-built space where young people can connect, grow, socialise, and build confidence in a safe, supportive environment. Every session will offer over 20 activities for young people aged 8–19 (or up to 25 for those with additional needs). From sports and fitness to creative arts, cooking, and employability workshops, volunteers will play a vital role in inspiring young people, developing skills, and creating positive experiences that can shape futures.
No two evenings will be the same but every session will make a difference.
About the role:
We are looking for volunteers with experience or confidence in supporting young people with studying and revision to support our Wellbeing and Study Support Sessions. Your knowledge and practical experience will help us create a calm, supportive space for young people during exam and revision periods. Working alongside experienced youth workers, you will support young people who may feel unsure where to start, overwhelmed by revision, or in need of guidance with revision techniques such as creating notes, flashcards, or breaking work into manageable steps. This role does not involve subject-specific teaching but focuses on using your experience to help young people feel more confident, supported, and able to engage with their revision.
What you'll be doing:
- Support the delivery of wellbeing and study support sessions to young people to access during exam periods
- Help create a calm, welcoming environment where young people feel comfortable and supported
- Work alongside experienced youth workers to create a calm, welcoming space for focused revision and wellbeing support.
- Provide encouragement, reassurance, and light-touch guidance rather than subject-specific tutoring.
- Support young people to manage stress and anxiety linked to exams and studying.
- Use your experience to support young people with revision skills, including:
- Knowing where to start when revision feels overwhelming
- Creating revision notes, flashcards, and mind maps
- Breaking revision tasks into manageable steps
- Exploring different revision techniques and study habits

- Has experience or confidence in supporting young people with revision skills, study techniques etc.
-Is passionate about supporting young people to feel confident, calm, and capable.
-Enjoys engaging with young people from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Understands the pressures young people face during exams and wants to help them feel more supported and confident.
-Shares the values of Base71 and is committed to inclusion, empowerment, and positive impact.
