We offer a range of accountancy and payroll services, advice and information to support community groups, charities and CICs based in the Barnsley area.

Our friendly staff are specialists in charity and not for profit sector finance and work closely with other Barnsley CVS services to provide high-quality support, tailored to your organisation's needs.

Our Services

Please be aware that if you do not require all of the listed services, then we can alter what we provide to you.

Year End Accounts

  • A full year-end accounts service including preparation of financial statements and Independent Examination of accounts ensuring that you meet your statutory obligations.
  • Submission of your annual return to the Charity Commission
  • Submission of your accounts to Companies House
  • Preparation and filing of tax returns to HMRC

Bookkeeping Service

  • Full Monthly bookkeeping service carried out by our specialists on Quickbooks software
  • Production of monthly management reports

Bookkeeping Assistance

  • We are Quickbooks licensed accountants and can help you set up your own bookkeeping systems with Quickbooks software including the initial set up/migration from your existing system, training and ongoing support with the use of the software.
  • Alternatively, for smaller organisations, who don’t want to subscribe to bookkeeping software, we can assist you with setting up more simplified bookkeeping systems on Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and provide ongoing support if you use our Year-End services.

Advice and Support

  • We offer support and advice for new treasurers and groups, and can make recommendations for best practice in your own financial management systems
  • We can help you set up financial controls and procedures for managing your charities finances
  • We can support you with financial information for grant applications
  • We can help you prepare annual budgets and cash flow forecasts
  • We can advise you on your statutory obligations to the Charity Commission, Companies House and HMRC

The cost of our Community Accountancy Services vary based on the size and complexity of your organisation, offering a bespoke price tailored to your requirements.  

This service is available to organisations with a turnover of less than £1,000,000 including those who work freelance. If your turnover is over £1,000,000 please get in touch to discuss potential options with us.

We offer a competitively priced Payroll Bureau that is a fully managed Payroll Service, removing the stress of payroll obligations and requirements, enabling you to get on with the day to day management of your organisation. Our payroll offer includes:

  • Calculations of monthly payroll showing the amount to pay each employee and secure payslips
  • Preparation of Payroll and Pension reports and maintaining employee payroll records and form P45
  • Apply employee tax codes, Student Loan and other Government mandatory deductions
  • Send salaries and wages information to HMRC every month via RTI online submissions
  • Calculation of Statutory Sick Pay and pension contributions
  • Calculation of Statutory payments such as SMP and reclaims of these payments from HMRC
  • Claim Employment Allowance from HMRC every year on your behalf
  • Uploading pension contribution files and maintenance of pension portals
  • Assistance with employer pension duties for automatic re-enrolment
  • Calculation of Liabilities to pay over to HMRC and assist with any queries
  • Preparation of Year End form P60 for employees
  • Provide guidance to meet employer legal responsibilities including National Minimum Wage obligations
  • Practical support with payroll issues such as holiday entitlement, redundancy and salary forecasts
