- Be the cheery face of Marie Curie at our supermarket collections, holding a bucket or tin and

collecting money

- Can also host the collection by dropping off the volunteers' kit (provided), picking up the full tins at the end, banking the money.

- Everything needed is provided and full training given.

- Good people skills and organisation skills needed.

- Help us raise vital funds for Marie Curie services for people at the end of their life, and their families.

We are Jolly Good Communities — delivering exciting, themed and inclusive community events across Barnsley. Our Promotional Team helps us reach more people, share the impact of our work and show the brilliant things happening in our communities. We’re now looking for creative volunteers to help us grow our presence on TikTok, Instagram and other social platforms.

Role Purpose

The Content Creator Volunteer helps us capture, create and share engaging content from our events, workshops and community activities. This role is perfect for someone who loves social media, understands what makes content fun and eye-catching, and wants to help us reach a wider audience. You’ll also support us in gathering stories, short interviews and feedback from visitors, which helps us show funders the impact of our work.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

• Filming short videos and taking photos at events, activities and workshops

• Creating engaging content for TikTok, Instagram Reels and Stories

• Helping us shape a consistent visual style and tone of voice

• Editing short videos, adding captions, music or overlays (simple editing is fine!)

• Capturing visitor comments, stories and experiences for evaluation

• Supporting simple on-camera interviews or vox pops

• Helping other volunteers learn basic content creation skills

• Working alongside the Promotional Team to plan and post regular updates

• Suggesting creative ideas and trends to help our content reach more people

Skills & Qualities Needed

• Familiar with TikTok, Instagram or other short-form content platforms

• Creative eye for video, photography or storytelling

• Confident talking to people and capturing their stories

• Good communication skills

• Organised and reliable

• Happy working in busy event environments

• Editing skills (basic phone apps are fine)

• No professional experience required — enthusiasm is enough!

We are Jolly Good Communities — known for our wow-factor community events with immersive themes, vibrant décor and eye-catching displays. Our Creative Production Team brings the magic to life by designing and making the props, costumes and visuals that make our events unforgettable.

Role Purpose

The Creative Production Team Volunteer helps bring event themes to life through crafting, painting, prop-making, sewing, designing and other creative tasks. Whether you’re artistic, crafty, practical or just love making things, this is a fun, hands-on role where your creativity directly shapes the look and feel of our events.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

• Creating props, decorations and visual displays for themed events

• Painting signs, backdrops and event features

• Helping sew or repair simple costumes, bunting and fabric decorations

• Assisting with crafting sessions — cutting, gluing, assembling and decorating items

• Supporting the design of posters, signage or digital artwork (if you have graphic skills)

• Helping brainstorm creative ideas for themes and visual impact

• Setting up creative installations on event days

• Working safely with materials, tools and paints

• Bringing imagination, colour and creativity to every event

Skills & Qualities Needed

• Enjoying arts, crafts or creative making (all skill levels welcome)

• Good teamwork and willingness to learn new things

• Basic crafting skills (painting, cutting, gluing etc.)

• Sewing or digital design experience is a bonus — but not required

• Creative thinking and attention to detail

• Reliable and happy to get stuck in with hands-on work

• No professional experience needed — just enthusiasm!

We are Jolly Good Communities — delivering inclusive, wow-factor community events across Barnsley. Our Operations & Logistics Team is essential for making sure each event is safe, smooth, and well organised. From setting up equipment to keeping the site tidy and helping marshal vehicles, this team keeps everything running behind the scenes.

Role Purpose

The Operations & Logistics Team Leader oversees a group of volunteers who help set up, maintain and pack down our events. You’ll help organise equipment, support volunteers with practical tasks, and make sure everything is safe, tidy and running on schedule. This role is perfect for someone practical, organised and confident working outdoors and with people.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

• Leading and supporting the Operations & Logistics volunteer team during set-up, event hours and pack-down

• Helping plan the site layout, equipment needs and workload before each event

• Overseeing the safe set-up of gazebos, barriers, banners, tables, props and signage

• Managing pack-down to ensure equipment is stored correctly and safely

• Allocating tasks to volunteers and offering guidance and basic training (e.g., safe lifting)

• Supporting marshalling activities, such as guiding traders and visitors to parking areas

• Ensuring pathways and activity zones remain safe, tidy and clear throughout the event

• Reporting hazards or issues to the Event Co-ordinator

• Creating a positive, friendly team atmosphere where volunteers feel supported and valued

Skills & Qualities Needed

• Practical, hands-on and confident with physical tasks

• Friendly, approachable and good at teamwork

• Basic awareness of safety (training provided)

• Organised and able to delegate tasks effectively

• Calm in busy situations and able to problem-solve on the spot

• Reliable and comfortable working outdoors in all seasons

• Experience in logistics, events, public services or construction (helpful but not required)
