Supporting Tenants works with young people who are either moving into their own homes, or who are currently at risk of becoming homelessness due to the fact they are struggling to manage their current accommodation.
As a tenancy support worker, you will work as part of a team to provide intensive and structured one to one support to a caseload of young people and young families using a strength-based approach to achieve the goal of sustaining their accommodation.
The role involves developing the skills and confidence of young people and empowering them to achieve identified goals and maximise independence within the timeframe for
support. The role involves some lone working with young people some with a variety of multiple and complex needs.
As a tenancy support worker, you will:
Support - You will spend time on a one to one basis, working with young people on their goals e.g. Helping young people claim all the benefits they are entitled to.
Empowerment - You will provide information around tenancy related issues e.g. how to report repairs, pay rent or manage debts. Building confidence to manage these issues.
Advocacy - You will support young people to challenge some of the discrimination they experience e.g. Supporting young people challenge adecision regarding priority for rehousing.
