Working with a Board of Trustees, the role is to manage the charity, the Yorkshire Cancer Community, a support and information network which covers Yorkshire and the Humber.
We work closely with the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Cancer Alliance and they fund our projects, Cancer SMART and Patient VIEW. Working in collaboration with the Cancer Alliance, the postholder will lead the Cancer SMART project to encourage the uptake of screening and the early diagnosis of cancer symptoms particularly within under served communities in this region.
The role will have a focus on the recruitment and support of Cancer Champions. Cancer Champions are a network of committed and enthusiastic volunteers who raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of cancer, promote the benefits of early diagnosis and the uptake of breast, cervical and bowel screening, share key messages around healthy lifestyles and cancer prevention and support national and regional cancer related campaigns, awareness days and messaging.
