Peer Mentor

We are now looking to recruit enthusiastic, reliable and committed volunteers to assist our team with supporting victims of domestic abuse by Peer mentoring: a new support service to victims and survivors of Domestic Abuse, offering 1-2-1 and online support. The aim of peer mentoring is for those who have experience of domestic abuse to help people who are experiencing abuse. This might include talking through the court process with someone, telling them what to expect, giving them emotional support or providing a listening service. The aim is to help victims build confidence and the strength to move on.

Skills and quaifications:

You will need to be flexible, friendly and approachable with good listening and verbal communication skills. Volunteers need to have respect for the diversity of all people, including commitment to the service’s objectives of ensuring equal access is offered to all victims. You will need to be committed, trustworthy, discreet and prepared to adhere to IDAS’s confidentiality policy. A non-judgemental, impartial and confidential approach is essential.
