IDAS (Independent Domestic Abuse Service) is seeking volunteers to assist with the administration and distribution of personal and home safety equipment, known as target hardening. Target hardening is equipment to improve the security of a property or person, to reduce the risk of crime for victims of domestic abuse. It can include items such as alarms, locks and CCTV. Target hardening is incorporated into IDAS clients’ personalised safety plans.
The suitable candidate will also demonstrate confidence in speaking to internal and external stakeholders, while being compassionate and trauma-informed when engaging with clients. Volunteer tasks will include using the case management system to monitor and organise the target hardening items received by IDAS clients; managing stock levels; arrange collection or delivery of items; and liaise with external stakeholders to assist with the installation of equipment.
The role offers the opportunity to volunteer within a specialist charity doing vital work to support victims and survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence. We offer thorough and on-going training to our volunteers and additional shadowing of our Practitioners.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Administration to monitor and organise target hardening requests and receipts.
- Monitor stock levels, informing Local Managers when more is to be ordered.
- Use and updating of case management system, recording allocation of equipment.
- Conducting follow up client calls to assess impact of target hardening installation.
- Preparation of client target hardening items and communication with local teams regarding collections or delivery.
- Email correspondence with clients and other stakeholders
- GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) adherence
- Attendance to local area managers and team meetings.

Recruitment process: Recruitment will begin with an telephone interview, a check of references and a review of our case management system. Following this for successful candidates is training, which takes place on three Tuesday afternoons via Zoom. This is followed by a post-training interview and the DBS application.
Applicants will have:

- Basic IT and organisational skills are essential
- An understanding of Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence is desirable
