IT Support Volunteers

AbilityNet is looking for IT Support Volunteers in Barnsley and Rotherham to help people get the most out of technology across UK. We support older and disabled people to use technology, from setting up a new device, to showing how to use Zoom or do an online food shop.

The role is flexible to fit in with your needs and commitments, and supporting clients can be carried out remotely and/or face-to-face. Volunteers will receive support from local area Volunteer Coordinators.

Skills and quaifications:

You don’t need to be a tech guru to help out. If you use a computer at home or work, and perhaps support family and friends with their tech issues, you are likely to have the skills we are looking for:

A passion to help others
Good IT and computer skills
Knowledge of standard operating systems and software would be useful
The ability to communicate well with people
Patience and empathy
Your own transport or good transport links e.g. bus, if providing face-to-face support
