Vaccination Marshal Volunteer - Patient Support
Hosted by: Barnsley CVS

We are working in collaboration with the NHS and local CCG to help with the smooth running of the vaccination programme.

We have a main clinic running from Priory Campus, and often we can have pop up smaller clinics running at Apollo Court in Dodworth, Goldthorpe Medical Centre and Market Kitchen in Barnsley Market.

The Patient Support role will be based inside the clinic to support the clinical staff in the smooth delivery of the COVID-19 vaccination programme by greeting attendees after they have had their vaccination and helping them move safely to the recovery area, as well as signposting people to the correct exit.

Tasks and activities will include:
Meeting and greeting vaccine attendees, helping them navigate to the correct COVID-secure recovery areas, providing reassuring conversation post vaccine.
Alongside another volunteer and buildings staff, you will ensure number limits in recovery areas are maintained to avoid overcrowding.
Directing attendees safely to the correct exits.
Patrol the recovery area, making observational checks on those that have received the vaccine and keeping vigilant for adverse reactions.
Alert the designated medical staff to any adverse reactions as soon as possible.
Understand procedures in place if an emergency arises and staff need to be alerted.
Report immediately to a supervising member of staff anything that is likely to pose a threat or danger to the attendees or site safety.
