Listening Service- Phone Volunteer

About the Opportunity:
We provide a listening service to prevent social isolation and loneliness to clients of all different backgrounds. This is a texting, zoom or phone call service so we would like volunteers to be able to make regular contact with the client once trained. This opportunity can also be done remotely.

Organisation Description:
To help others to positively engage in the Community with the aim of improving the conditions of life by the provision of a range of activities, including but not exclusively, fund raising, cook and eat sessions for a healthy diet, education on the preparation of low cost meals and working to a budget for people on limited incomes.

The Role:
We are looking to recruit committed, enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to support us to make contact with clients over the phone, on zoom or through text messages.

Community, Computers, Writing, talking making a difference to someone that may be lonely and socially isolated. To be able to build someone’s confidence through giving them the information for them to make their own informed decisions. To empower them.

Practical Considerations
All Applicants to complete an Application form, DBS Form and will be appointed if they fulfil our criteria and we have a current vacancy

Skills and quaifications:

What are we Looking for?
Commitment, Computer skills, Good written skills, Creativity, Planning Skills, active listening skills, Confident verbal communication, Able to work to instruction and on own initiative, Attention to detail, Able to abide by confidentiality and professional boundaries, Experience of volunteering or working with adults with mental health or learning disabilities is desirable but not essential.

To be able to work alone, Communication, organisation, written skills, to be able to problem solve with a team through zoom etc.

Required Training:
Data Protection, Planning, How to Lead, Food hygiene, Safeguarding, confidentiality and boundaries.
