Resolute Women’s Support Service, a Barnsley charity dedicated to supporting women who experience domestic abuse, is calling on the local community to donate evening dresses for prom season to its charity shop, The Lotus, in the town centre. The initiative aims to support young girls who may be struggling with the financial pressures of the cost of living crisis, giving them the opportunity to attend their prom in a beautiful dress, while also raising vital funds to support the charity's ongoing mission.
With prom season fast approaching, many young girls face the difficult reality of not being able to afford the costs associated with the event, including purchasing a prom dress. Resolute Women’s Support Service is committed to ensuring that no young person misses out on this important milestone due to financial hardship. By donating evening dresses to The Lotus, local residents can make a significant difference in the lives of young girls, while also helping the charity raise much-needed funds to continue its work in empowering women and girls in Barnsley and beyond.
“We understand the financial pressures many families are facing right now, and we want to ensure that every young girl has the chance to enjoy her prom night, regardless of her circumstances,” said Deborah Jones, CEO and Founder at Resolute. “By donating an evening dress to The Lotus, you’re not just giving a young girl the opportunity to experience this special event, but you’re also helping us fund vital support for women throughout the year.”
The Lotus Charity Shop, located in Barnsley, has always been a vital hub for supporting the community, offering affordable clothing, accessories, and household items to those in need. Now, as part of their prom dress drive, the shop is asking for donations of gently used or new evening dresses suitable for prom, as well as accessories such as shoes, bags, and jewellery.
Donating is simple—just drop off your items at The Lotus during opening hours, and the team will handle the rest. All proceeds from the sale of donated items will go directly towards Resolute Women’s mission to empower women and girls, offering practical support, guidance, and resources to help them thrive.
