A new chair of the board of trustees at Barnsley CVS has been appointed after Melvyn Lunn stepped down from the role.

Denise Pozorski was voted into the role at our recent Annual General Meeting held at Priory Campus.

Melvyn took over the position of chair in April 2018 and has been pivotal in role in keeping the charity running during the pandemic.

He said now seemed the perfect time to stand down as Barnsley CVS prepares to move from Priory Campus to its office on Queens Road, and pledged to continue his support as a trustee on the board.

He said: "I will still be keeping a watchful eye on things, helping where I can and watching Barnsley CVS become a strong CVS. The sector as a whole wants to see that happen, to see a strong CVS that offers stability and support."

Paying tribute to all Melvyn’s hard work, Denise said: "Melvyn has been a linchpin in keeping the organisation afloat. Many people can forget that board chairs and trustees are volunteers themselves and Melvyn has gone above and beyond.

"Melvyn has done hours and hours of work and attended lots of meetings and I would like to pay tribute to all the time he has given."

Also paying tribute, recently appointed CEO Jane Holliday said: "I don't know many chairs who would take on the mantle like Melvyn has in keeping the organisation going.

“The time, effort and expertise Melvyn has given to Barnsley CVS has been inspirational. That is what attracted me to coming to Barnsley CVS and making it such a success.”
