Kickstart Scheme

The government Kickstart Scheme provides funding to employers to create new 6-month job placements for young people who are currently on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment.

 

Your organisation will receive £1,500 per job for set-up costs, support and training. The fund will then cover ALL of the 25 hours a week wage to the employee. This is pay at the relevant National Minimum Wage and also includes associated National Insurance contributions and the employer’s minimum automatic enrolment contributions.

 

The criteria of the new job(s):

·         They can’t replace existing or planned vacancies

·         They can’t cause existing employees or contractors to lose or reduce their employment

·         For 16 to 24 year olds.

·         They must be a minimum of 25 hours per week, for 6 months

·         Paid at least the National Minimum Wage for their age group

For the scheme to work in Barnsley a minimum of 30 jobs must be created before funding is agreed. Organisations can partner up to reach the minimum. Barnsley CVS is willing to help set up and administer a group containing charities, social enterprises, and possibly SME (small and medium-sized enterprises).
