We are facing an unprecedented situation with the impact of coronavirus and want to make sure our communities are supported. Barnsley CVS is working with Barnsley Council so people can volunteer their time, no matter how big or small to make a big difference during these difficult times. We know that residents play a huge role in building strong communities and that many of you are interested to see how you can help people who need it most. If you would like to volunteer your skills to support the most vulnerable, we can find an opportunity that works for you.

Barnsley CVS has experience of supporting volunteers in a range of roles across our borough, and our teams are on hand to make sure that your skills are best suited to the help you can provide, and that the opportunity is right for you. We are currently identifying those who are most at risk in our communities and want to make sure we can provide targeted support.

To make these resources are managed in the best way, we have created an online registration form that we are encouraging people in Barnsley to fill in.

Examples of support that might be required include:

  • Chatting to people on the phone who may be self-isolating so that they don't get lonely
  • Doing shopping or dropping off other supplies
  • Delivering library books to help keep people busy
  • Administrative work
