Barnsley Council has been provisionally allocated funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Funds (UKSPF) and wants to use some of it to help people through the Cost of Living Crisis.
The council is looking for community groups and organisations, front line operational staff such as social care, health and others who work directly with vulnerable households who may be struggling with the cost of living.
Can you deliver a project or service that demonstrates an immediate or longer-term benefit to the recipients by the end of March 2023? If so, apply now.
The council is aiming to help people with the following:
- Food.
- Energy costs – specifically looking at ways you can help people pay for their gas and electricity bills.
- Wider essentials.
- Debt relief.
The council also wants a focus on sleep poverty (https://thesleepcharity.org.uk/get-involved/sleep-poverty/) and hygiene poverty (https://thehygienebank.com/)
Any projects should target:
- Households on low incomes struggling to pay bills or in debt, i.e. households whose main income is less than £24,000 per annum.
- Vulnerable households who have additional needs such as older people, people with mental health support needs, the disabled or people who have a learning disability.
Support must reach households by no later than 31 March 2023.
