The Prime Minister has announced tougher national restrictions in England from Thursday 5 November 2020.

As a result, we have put together some guidance around what these new restrictions will mean for volunteering.

The implications of these new restrictions are outlined in the document, that you can download from here.

The Barnsley Superstar volunteer group have been making free face covering for the community for the past six weeks. They have been going from strength to strength and to date (1 July 2020)  have made over 5700 face coverings for the community, handing them out to friends, family, neighbours and anyone who needs one. They have 102 volunteers and have contributed a huge 1267 hours of their time already.

These coverings are reusable and they are being made in a wide range of colourful fabrics!

Barnsley CVS (Community and Voluntary Services) is delighted to thanks all the volunteers for Volunteers' Week. People who give up their time make a huge contribution to the community making Barnsley a better place to live.

Equality and Inclusion

We are facing an unprecedented situation with the impact of coronavirus and want to make sure our communities are supported. Barnsley CVS is working with Barnsley Council so people can volunteer their time, no matter how big or small to make a big difference during these difficult times. We know that residents play a huge role in building strong communities and that many of you are interested to see how you can help people who need it most. If you would like to volunteer your skills to support the most vulnerable, we can find an opportunity that works for you.

From the 31st July 2019 we will be at the brand new library at The Lightbox hosting two volunteer drop in sessions a week, for people to come find out about how to get into volunteering!

Every Wednesday and Friday, between 10am and 2pm, the volunteer centre team will be on the ground floor to help answer all your volunteering questions, queries and concerns, help you find the right role and find out what is out there.
