Voluntary Action Rotherham is the lead body for supporting, developing and promoting the voluntary and community sector in the Rotherham Borough.   Its core activities and associated projects are a keystone for local community engagement and development.

We are now looking to recruit the following post to support engagement with and development of Rotherham’s online voluntary and community sector directory, Rotherham Gismo .                       

Development Worker (online directory, Rotherham Gismo)

 

The primary purpose of this role will be to work with local voluntary and community sector groups and partner organisations to publicise, raise awareness and increase the usage of Rotherham Gismo, supporting individual groups to register and develop their use of the directory and working with VAR colleagues to support groups to improve their sustainability and enable them to access additional infrastructure support as needed.  An integral part of this role will be to maintain and progress a public profile for Rotherham Gismo through further development of the website, writing press releases and making full use of social media.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a voluntary or community development role.  As well as having experience of marketing and publicity, the successful candidate must have the ability to work with a diverse range of people and groups from different backgrounds and be able to establish and maintain effective professional relationships.  Knowledge and experience of working with a variety of social media disciplines is essential, as is the ability to design and produce effective marketing materials and evaluation reports.

The successful candidate must be willing to work flexible hours when required to meet work demands, as occasional attendance at meetings outside normal working hours will be part of the role.

An intrinsic part of the role is to travel throughout the Borough on a regular basis therefore, it is essential that applicants are able to travel to various locations during the course of employment.
